Winemaking and Tasting Notes
This wine is a unique blend in Thailand between our estate grown Syrah and a small percentage of
Viognier. Syrah for this blend was picked from eighteen-year-old blocks on a slope with darker soil and good drainage. The grapes were hand harvested in the cool mornings of February at 23-24°Brix and sorted. Fully-ripened Viognier was co-fermented with the Syrah.
As a result of 5% Viognier in the fermentation, the wine is bold, fruit-forward with refined tannins and a lifted nose. 2020 Heritage Syrah Viognier showcases youthful notes of blueberry, raspberry jam, rose petals, earth, and dried spices. The palate displays arrays of dark berries, vanilla and freshly cracked black pepper with great acid backbone. Aged in second year French oak puncheons for twenty-one months, the wine is balanced in body with a structured finish of vanilla and chocolate. It is pleasurable drinking on its own or with food.
This Syrah Viognier is crafted to be enjoyed with a few years of cellaring and will improve with age. Drink now-2030.
